Privacy Policy

Psych Brief creates educational psychology videos and related creator workflow tools. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how to contact us.

Information we collect

If you contact us, we may collect your name, email address, and the message you send. If a creator authorizes Psych Brief through TikTok’s Login Kit, we receive only the fields the user.info.basic scope provides — the creator’s TikTok open_id (and union_id), display_name, and avatar_url — plus authorization status, the granted scope names, and access-token metadata such as expiration. Psych Brief does not request or collect your TikTok bio, username, verification status, follower or following counts, like counts, engagement metrics, post analytics, or your list of videos.

Psych Brief also processes draft titles, scripts, captions, source notes, quality-check results, rendered MP4 files, and operational logs needed to generate and review educational videos. The Content Posting API (video.upload) is planned for a separate future TikTok review and is not part of the current Login Kit submission.

How we use information

We use information to operate Psych Brief, connect authorized creator accounts, prepare and review creator-owned educational drafts, improve educational content, respond to messages, maintain security, troubleshoot errors, and meet legal or platform compliance requirements.

TikTok account permissions

Psych Brief uses TikTok permissions only for the connected creator workflow. With user.info.basic (Login Kit), Psych Brief confirms which authorized account it is connected to. Psych Brief does not ask for TikTok passwords, does not auto-publish, and does not use TikTok developer tools to scrape TikTok or automate TikTok Studio. If the planned video.upload phase is reviewed and approved later, creator-owned MP4s would be sent only to the creator’s TikTok inbox as drafts for manual review inside TikTok.

You can revoke TikTok authorization in your TikTok account settings. You may also contact us to request deletion of Psych Brief records tied to that authorization.

How we share information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use TikTok data for advertising, profiling, or to build databases or records beyond operating the connected creator workflow. We may share information with service providers that help host the public website or operate the creator workflow, with TikTok when using TikTok developer APIs as authorized, when required by law, to protect rights and security, or with your consent.

TikTok and Psych Brief each act as independent data controllers for the data each holds. Data you receive from TikTok is also governed by TikTok’s own Privacy Policy.

Data retention

We keep operational records only as long as needed for publishing, legal, security, and platform-review purposes. OAuth records are kept only while needed to maintain the authorized creator workflow or until authorization is revoked or deletion is requested, subject to legal and security retention needs.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards for account authorization records and operational data. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please contact us promptly if you believe your information has been used without authorization.

Children

Psych Brief is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your choices

You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of information associated with Psych Brief. You may also stop using the service and revoke TikTok authorization through TikTok's account settings.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when this version became active.
